Here’s How to Make Money During Your Next Move!

Category immoafrica

Moving is definitely not cheap.

Considering the expenses you already have, you now need to start
thinking about moving companies and maybe even petrol money if you
are moving far away.

There are, of course, many tips and tricks that can help you save
money if you are a bit strapped for cash, but wouldn’t it be better
to make money whilst moving?

Here are a few smart tactics that you can employ the next time you
move to make sure that you have something extra for the long road
before you get to your new abode:

SELL YOUR APPLIANCES:

Do you really need two coffee machines when moving to your new home?
I didn’t think so.

If someone gifted you a new appliance, you can easily sell the old
one online or at a second-hand appliance shop. They can bring in a
small fortune, so you might as well part with them.

Heck, you could probably recoup about 40% of their original cost
when you take them to a resale shop and you can get even more if
you decide to sell them yourself online!

SELL AND RECYCLE ELECTRONICS:

Remember that smartphone you bought before you realized there is a
better one on the market? It is probably somewhere in a box or on a
shelf, just waiting to be used again.

Why not make use of this moving opportunity and sell it?

If you clean it up a bit, buy a new battery and a new cover you can
easily sell it on Gumtree or eBay. You can sell old computers, mp3
players or televisions for extra cash as well.

As another alternative, you could consider approaching a pawn shop
to sell your items.

SELL YOUR FURNITURE:

Antiques and high-end furniture are bound to give you a wad of cash
in your pocket, so if you’re not scared of selling grandma’s old cabinet,
then this is the way to go.

Try selling your valuables online first (i.e. Gumtree). If that fails, you
can always approach a local antique dealer or consignment store. They take
care of the sale and give you a nice cut of the profit.

SELL OLD OR UNUSED CLOTHES:

This is actually a two-way advantage because not only will you make some
money off of those clothes you rarely wear, but you will also be able to
limit the amount of stuff you take to the new place which will make moving
easier.

Many of the clothes you own might be worth a pretty penny, especially those
dresses and suits you bought for a cocktail party!

You can even consider selling some of your winter clothes if you are moving
somewhere sunnier.

Second-hand shops and online consignment stores are your best bet if you want
to find a market.

SELL OLD BOOKS:

Selling your old books can vary from a few bucks to a few hundred or even
thousand Rands, depending on the edition and condition of the book.

Rare or signed books are worth a ton of money and collectors who are looking
out for it online are willing to pay if you are willing to sell.

Textbooks can also be resold to university bookstores or to university students
and you’ll be providing affordable textbooks to the next generation of students.
Second-hand bookstores will also take in your old novels and give you cash before
they sell them to new readers.

These are just some of the ways that you can make money whilst you are moving to
your new home!
